Entrance to Mahakala Mandir

The paintings on the wall represent Shiva, the destroyer of evil and one aspect of the divine being that is the Hindu equivalent of the Creator. As befitting this ascetic deity, these paintings were in stark black and white, and in complete contrast to the brightly colored prayer flags all over the temple.
