The name white rhino is a misnomer
- the name stems from a Dutch word for "wide",
to signify the broad lips of this grazing rhino, but
was misinterpreted to be "white".
Both white and black rhinos are grey.
The joke in Africa is that white rhinos are so called
because they walk with their babies in front of them
(like white people pushing prams), and black rhinos
so named because they walk with their babies behind
them (like black people carrying their children on a
sling on their back).
