For a bird listed as "commonly seen", we didn't see this fellow until the morning of our departure, when we almost ran him over as we turned a corner.

The reason turned out to that these guys seem to hang out in the dunes, as opposed to the riverbed where we spent most of our time.

Sure enough, we saw 3 more of these birds on that 20km drive through the dunes. And no, we didn't kill any of them.
