What an awesome animal!!! Watching this lion stride across the riverbed, lithe muscles rippling, was truly an amazing sight.

The power of a male lion is truly amazing to watch. Each park has stories about some legendary males - the coolest one I have hear is of a coalition in Matusadonha NP, Zimbabwe, which specialized in killing hippo. Yes, hippo. Apparently, the lake waters rose and the hippo population went up - and then when the waters receded, they were more vulnerable. While I cannot attest to this story being true, I did see a lot of hippo skulls quite some distance from the lake when I was there.
