Another of my favorite shots from the trip. I was feeling a little bummed after learning of a leopard sighting, a lion kill, and 3 lionesses drinking water -- all of which we had missed.

I initially saw this gemsbok, and 2 others, on the lower part of the dune, and being wrapped in my thoughts, wasn't paying attention to what they were doing.

Pritha pointed out that they were going up the hill and would present a good photo opportunity. Sure enough, after browsing for a while, all three of them eventually climbed and crested the dune. The first two went straight over, but this one stopped and looked back at us in that particularly mulish manner that gemsbok seem to have.

The rich blue sky and red soil provides a lovely colored backdrop for this handsome antelope.
